How Do I Get Help Creating a Successful Business as a Positive Discipline Parent Educator (PDPE)?

The primary focus of Positive Discipline Success is to help you create a successful business doing something you can feel passionate about—helping parents learn parenting skills that will help them enjoy parenting more while helping their children develop into capable young people.

Jane Nelsen Jane Nelsen shares her enthusiasm for the Positive Discipline Success System:

I have something very exciting to share. It begins with a story.

Tim Yates is a business entrepreneur who lives near me in Carlsbad, CA (where I now live). After a friend of his took my last Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way workshop in San Diego, she got so excited about the potential that she wants to do Positive Discipline as a business. She is now a teacher and would like to be able to work fewer hours doing PD (to have more time with her young daughter) and make as much money—or more.

Tim was looking for something new to feel passionate about. He came to a one-day workshop I facilitated because he has three children, and became excited about Positive Discipline. He decided he would like to teach PD himself. He had found his passion! When Tim showed me the Internet based back-office he had created to enhance his PD business, I got so excited I couldn't believe it. We decided to share it with others who might find it as exciting and helpful as we do.

Let me give you a partial summary of what is included in the PDSuccess system (find a more complete summary here):

1) Your own mini website created by simply by filling in the blanks. The plan is to eventually have different templates from which to choose.  If you already have your own website, it can be linked.

2) Merchant Account capabilities. This means that people can sign up for your workshops or classes using Visa or Mastercard.  PDS will deduct the credit card charges and send you the rest. (It is not easy for an individual to get a merchant account.)

3) Auto Responder. When someone signs up for your class or workshop, they will receive an automatic email letter that is already done for you, or you can customize the letter when you create your profile. You will also receive an email letting you know the information of the person who just signed up.

4) Powerful Database! As if all this wasn't enough, here comes one of the features I would pay the price for even if nothing else was included—a fabulous database. Everyone who ever signs up or even makes an inquiry on your website will automatically be added to your personal data base. You can also add anyone you want. (If only I had had this system 30 years ago, I would be able to contact everyone I ever presented for.) With a click of a few keys, you can choose what type of people you would like to contact (lecture contact people, workshop attendees, class participants, people who give you their business cards, etc.) and send a customized letter or email.

5) Client Search. Part of the database is a search engine so you contact all the preschools, Montessori schools, or elementary schools in your area. You can search for them within a 10 to 100 mile radius.. The ones you select will automatically be added to your data base. (I have spent hours on the Internet and phone books in the past, but didn't have any way to store the information, so I would have to do it all over again for the next workshop.)

6. It keeps getting better! It keeps getting better! You can click on the Flyers category and find several beautifully designed flyers that can be customized with your information for printing or mailing. There will also be some that can be inserted into emails in upcoming versions of PDSuccess.

7. Customizable Brochure Template. There is a Brochure category for beautifully designed 3-fold brochures that you can customize. This can be a great way to market your services to schools, Moms clubs or other groups such as large corporations who might be interested in “lunch bunch parenting classes.”

8. Preplanned Presentations! The Workshop Preparation category provides outlines for classes, lectures, or workshops—and for a short marketing presentation, such as a 20 minute back to school night or PTA meeting. The outlines include all the activities attached so you can print and go. Some of the workshop outlines are in PowerPoint Presentations for those who like this format along with activities. Many more outlines will be added.

9. Handout and Worksheet Downloads! Suppose you are doing a workshop for someone in another town or state. Part of the Workshop Preparation category will include handouts that can be emailed ahead for the contact person to make copies.

10. Business Planning. Then there is the Business category. This includes everything you need for information on setting up your home business, including a template for creating your business plan. One of my favorite features is the place where I can enter all my expenses for a workshop, calculate for totals, and save for tax purposes. (I leave a lot of money on the IRS table because I don't keep track of receipts. Now I will enter them and leave them in an envelope for each workshop, lecture, or class.)

11. Marketing Plans and Ideas I love the Marketing Plans category. The PDS System already has several and will keep adding more. One of my favorites (why didn't I think of this?) is a "Parenting Party." You ask a friend to  invite 15-20 friends to their home for a parenting party. They provide the place and light refreshments in exchange for a free registration at your workshop or class when 15 people sign up. You provide a free, short presentation and one or two activities (outline included). My guess is that most of them will want to sign up for an 8-week class after the all-day and will want to bring other friends.

12. It is so affordable! You need to see it first, but I believe you will be pleasantly surprised. There is no obligation to purchase the system.

There is much more, and you can see for yourself.  Tim has weekly webinars to demonstrate the system; you can find the schedule on the home page.

I feel that Tim and PDSuccess is a gift in my life—and may be in yours. Let Tim know if you would like to participate in a webinar.  You can reach him at 760-814-7162 or send a quick email to Tim@PDSuccess.com.

Most sincerely,

Jane Nelsen
